İklim değişikliği ve mevcut enerji kaynaklarının hızla tükenmesi nedeniyle tüm insanların enerji konusundaki farkındalığının geliştirilmesi kritik öneme sahip olup bu farkındalığa küçük yaşlarda başlanması önemlidir. Farkındalığın geliştirilebilmesi için enerjinin farklı yollardan özellikle doğal yollardan üretilmesi üzerine düşünülmesi ve bu yönde çalışmalar yapmak gerekir. Bu araştırmanın amacı 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin enerji ve doğal kaynaklarla ilgili görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada öğrencilerin yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının tanımlanması, elektrik üretimi ve kullanımını sebepleriyle birlikte tanımlamaları istenmiştir. Öğretmenler de konuyla ilgili bilgilendirilerek; müfredata uygun olarak geliştirilen etkinlikler öğretmenlerin kontrolünde öğrencilerin enerji tasarrufu ile ilgili yaptıkları görselleri paylaşmaları istenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu İç Anadolu ve Batı Karadeniz’de bulunan üç ortaokulda altıncı sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan ve ders dışı zamanlarda bilim şenliği etkinliklerine katılan yetmiş ikisi erkek, yetmiş sekizi kız olmak üzere toplam 150 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma grubu olarak amaçlı örnekleme biçimlerinden kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem tercih edilmiştir. Yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklar hakkında fikirleri değerlendirilirken öğrencilerin açık uçlu yanıtlarının analizinde nitel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Çalışma bitiminde öğrencilerin; güneş, hidroelektrik ve rüzgâr enerjilerine aşina oldukları gözlemlenmiştir ve gelecekte güneş enerjisinin daha fazla kullanılması gerektiğini önermişlerdir. Öğrenciler rüzgâr türbinleri ve güneş panellerindeki enerji transferini diğer elektrik üretim sistemlerine göre daha kolay açıklayabilmiştir. Çevresel hizmet içi öğrenme programı bağlamında önemli doğal kaynak ve enerji kavramlarını da öğrenmişlerdir. 

Based on the fact that it is critical to develop awareness of all people about energy due to climate change and the rapid depletion of available energy resources, starting from a young age will be more effective. In order to develop awareness, it is necessary to think about the production of energy from different ways, especially natural ways, and to work in this direction. This study was done with sixth grade students. In the research, students were asked to define renewable energy sources, to define their electricity production and usage together with their reasons. Informing teachers about the subject; Activities developed in accordance with the curriculum were asked by the students to share their visuals about energy saving under the control of the teachers. The study group of the study consists of 150 students, seventy-two boys and seventy-eight girls, who study in sixth grade in three secondary schools in Central Anatolia and the Western Black Sea region and participate in science festivities outside of class. Easily accessible sampling was chosen from the purposeful sampling styles. Qualitative methods were used to analyze students' open-ended answers when evaluating ideas about renewable energy sources. At the end of the study, the students; they have been observed to be familiar with solar, hydroelectric and wind energies and have suggested that solar energy should be used more in the future. Students were able to explain energy transfer in wind turbines and solar panels more easily than other electricity generation systems. They also learned important natural resource and energy concepts in the context of the environmental in-service learning program. The focus is on the discussion of how students' use of electricity affects the environment and the importance of integrated science teaching, which provides opportunities for students to take action. It is also stated in the suggestions section that renewable energy companies can contribute to energy and climate literacy initiatives.
