The Relationship Between Teachers' Organizational Justice Perception and Their Organizational Silence Degrees


Judgments about whether the events and situations developing in working environments, which are an important part of social life, are fair or not, directly or indirectly affect organizational outcomes. Organizational justice, which is defined as the perception of justice regarding the work and transactions of the members who have authority in the organization, is vital in terms of the active participation of the employees and the organization to act according to the purpose. mployees who believe that actions, feelings and thoughts will be accepted fairly, carry out activities for the benefit of the organization. Otherwise, they show the feeling of worthlessness or silence caused by fear. Organizational silence, which is considered as the conscious storage of ideas that will benefit the organization, is an important threat that negatively affects the outputs. The aim of this research is excimining the relationship between teachers’ organizational justice perceptions and their organizational silence degrees. The model of the research is correlational survey model. The sample which is determined by using convenience sampling method consists of 721 teachers who work at 36 state schools in Pendik, Istanbul. The data are collected with personal information form, “organizational justice scale” and “organizational silence scale” Data are analyzed by using arithmetic mean, pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis. According to results it is found that teachers’ organizational justice perceptions are high. Their organizational silence perceptions are medium. It is also found that there is a middle level negative way relationship between the teachers’ perceptions about organizational justice and its all subdimensions and teachers’ perceptions about organizational silence and its all subdimensions. Moreover, it is found that the perceptions about general organizational justice and its distributive and procedural justice dimensions have an important effect on explaining organizational silence. According to standardized regression parameters procedural justice has more effect on organizational silence when it is compared with distributive justice. The perceptions about interractional justice don’t have an important effect on explaining organizational silence.
