COMPARATIVE ANALYSE OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISION PHD PROGRAMS

Postgraduate education contributes to the specialization of individuals by taking master’s and doctoral degrees in their own fields or in a different field of interest. In this context, in it is important to discuss Educational Administration and Supervision doctoral programs, aiming to improve the professional competencies of the officials like school administrators, teachers, supervisors etc. who are working in or want to take part in educational institutions, and train them according to the principles and techniques of contemporary education, administration and supervision. The purpose of this study is to identify similarities and differences between Turkey and the United States [US], by examining doctoral programs of Educational Administration and Supervision in Turkey and in US comparatively. The selected universities from the United States and Turkey were included in the study group for this purpose. In the study, qualitative research model was used as a research model. This study is also a cross-national comparative educational study and it has been analyzed in the categories of program structure, application prerequisites and admission process, and course and thesis period of doctoral programs of Education Administration and Supervision. In this research, data were collected by document analysis method. The data on the doctoral programs of the selected universities collected from the websites, such documents as laws, regulations, directives, guidelines, etc. related to doctoral education of the universities studied. The obtained data were examined with descriptive analysis technique and presented with tables.
