Entegrasyonun amaçlarından birisi, bir disiplindeki konu ya da kavramların diğer disiplinlerdeki ilgili konu ya da kavramlarla ilişkilendirilerek, bunlar hakkındaki bilgi ve becerilerin bir arada öğretilmesidir. Bu sayede farklı disiplinler ortak bir paydada bir araya getirilerek, öğrencilerin bir disiplindeki kavramların diğer disiplinlerdeki kullanım alanlarını görerek daha iyi öğrenmelerini sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır. Ülkemizde de öğretim programlarında farklı şekillerde entegrasyon kavramına vurgu yapıldığı görülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının fen ve matematik entegrasyonuna yönelik algılarını ortaya çıkarmak ve bu konuyla ilgili gerçekleştirdikleri uygulamaları incelemektir. Araştırma karma yöntem modellerinden gömülü tasarım modeliyle desenlenmiştir. Araştırmaya 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Batı Karadeniz’deki bir devlet üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören tüm sınıf seviyelerinden 216 fen ve 188 matematik öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Katılımcılara ilk aşamada araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen Fen ve Matematik Entegrasyonu Algı Anketi (FMEAA) uygulanmıştır. İkinci aşamada 4 kişilik gruplardan oluşan öğretmen adaylarından fen ve matematik entegrasyonuna yönelik etkinlik tasarlamaları istenmiş ve süreç video ile kayıt altına alınmıştır. Etkinlikler tasarlandıktan sonra odak grup görüşmesi yapılarak sürece ilişkin detaylı görüş alınmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar incelendiğinde; (a) öğretmen adaylarının fen ve matematik entegrasyonuna yönelik olarak yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları, (b) entegrasyonun gerekli ve öğrenmede etkili olduğunu düşündükleri, (c) uygulama sürecinde en çok diğer alanın müfredatını bilmeme ve öğrenci düzeyini belirlemede zorluk çektikleri ve (d) entegrasyona yönelik olarak kendilerini yeterli hissetmedikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

One of the objectives of integration is to teach the knowledge and the skills related to a subject or concepts in a discipline by associating them with the relevant subject or concepts in another discipline. Hence, the main focus is to put different disciplines on a common ground and thus, and to ensure better learning by enabling students to learn the use of the concepts of a discipline in another discipline. It is remarkable that the concept of integration has been interpreted in different ways in curricula in Turkey. The aim of this research is to reveal perceptions of the prospective prospective teachers related to the integration of science and mathematics and to examine the practices they implement. The research has been designed with the embedded design model from mixed method models. 216 science and 188 mathematics prospective teachers from all levels attending to the Faculty of Education of a state university in Western Black Sea Region participated in this research during the spring semester of 2015-2016 academic year. In the first stage, Participants were given “Science and Mathematics Integration Perception Questionnaire” (SMIPQ) developed by researchers. In the second stage, the groups consisting of 4 prospective teachers were asked to design activities for integrating science and mathematics and this process was recorded. After the activities were designed, a focus group interview was held to get detailed views of the participants on the process. The results obtained from the study implied that: (a) prospective teachers do not have sufficient knowledge for integration of science and mathematics, (b) they think that integration is necessary and effective for learning, (c) they have difficulties in determining the level of students and (d) most of them do not see themselves competent for the integration process.
