Bilgi toplumu olarak nitelendirilen çağımızda bireylerin çeşitli becerilere sahip olmaları beklenmektedir. 21.

In this information-based century individuals are wanted to have different skills. The skills of the 21st century are categorized under three titles as learning skills (critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborating, communicating), literacy skills (information literacy, media literacy, technology literacy) and life skills (flexibility, initiative, social skills, productivity and leadership). The aim of this study is to determine the effect of digital stories developed by using Toondoo on students’ academic achievement and attitudes in Information and Communication Technologies course. In the study, mixed research design was used including both quantitative and qualitative methods. In quantitative part, experimental design based on pretest-posttest control group was used and interviews were done in qualitative part of the study. The study includes one experimental group including 41 students and one control group including 43 students. The study was administered on first grade students enrolled at Child Development department of HüseyinŞahin Vocational School in Erciyes University in 2015-2016 academic year. The achievement test developed by the researchers and used as pre and posttest includes 20 questions. The mean difficulty of the test was measured to be .62 and KR-20 reliability coefficient was calculated as .76. A five-point Likert style attitude scale developed by Seyrek (2010) was used to determine the attitudes of the students toward Information and Communication technologies course. Qualitative data were collected by using an interview form including six semi-structured questions. Study results revealed that digital stories developed by using Toondoo increased students’ academic achievement and affected their attitudes positively towards Information and Communication Technologies course. It was also determined that digital stories caused students participate the course actively, increased retention and motivation towards the course.
