Muhammet Yelten was born in Antalya on June 8th, 1954. He graduated from the Department Turkish Language and Literature of Istanbul University - Faculty of Letters. During the four years of his undergraduate education he enjoyed the pleasure of taking classes from the famous professors of Turkish Language and Literature. Since due to his deep passion of working on languages he started his doctorate studies under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Faruk K. Timurtas. He became assistant professor in 1989, associate professor in 1993, and finally full professor in 1999, all in New Turkish Language branch of the Department Turkish Language and Literature of the Istanbul University - Faculty of Letters. While he continued advancing his scientific work where he published journal papers and attended symposiums and conferences of his field of interest, he was also affiliated with the Turkology Institute (Turkiyat Enstitusu) in Istanbul University as the Vice Director. In 2008, he retired and started working in Istanbul Arel University to establish and lead the Department of Turkish Language and Literature. Currently, he is the Dean of Faculty of Science and Letters in Istanbul Arel University.
