“Padişahım Çok Yaşa” tabiri Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun kuruluş yıllarından itibaren resmî veya özel merasimlerde en çok duyulan alkışlardan birisi olmuştur. Bu alkış, 19. asrın sonlarına kadar da herhangi bir muhalefetle karşılaşmadan varlığını sürdürmüştür. Ancak ve özellikle Fransız İhtilali’nden sonra artık o alkışa muhalif sesler yükselmeye başlamıştır. Ayrıca bu durum sadece Osmanlı İmparatorluğu için geçerli değildir. Bilhassa Osmanlılar gibi çok uluslu bir yapıya sahip olan ve monarşist sistemle yönetilen devletlerde “Yaşasın Hürriyet” veya “Yaşasın Milletlerin Bağımsızlığı” gibi muhalif sesler daha gür bir biçimde yükselmişlerdir. Monarşist yöneticilerin o sesleri bastırma yönündeki gayretleri pek bir netice vermediği gibi olayların daha da içinden çıkılmaz bir hale dönüşmesine sebebiyet vermiştir. Bahsedilen bu rekabet veya mücadele ise imparatorlukların yıkılışına veyahut muhalif seslerin rakiplerine üstünlük sağlamasına kadar devam edip gitmiştir. Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi’nden temin edilen vesikalar ışığında şekillenen bu çalışmada, Osmanlılarda köklü bir geleneğin mahsulü olan “Padişahım Çok Yaşa” lafzı ile Fransız İhtilali’nden sonra yükselmeye başlayan ve II. Abdülhamid devrine gelindiğinde artık bütün milletler için birer bağımsızlık sembolüne dönüşen “Yaşasın” tabiriyle başlayıp imparatorlukların ve monarşist hükümdarların varlığını tehdit eden hürriyet ve meşrutiyet gibi ibarelerle veya bağlı milletlerin isimleriyle devam eden söz veya seslerin son dönem Osmanlı dünyasındaki yankılanmalarına veyahut seslerin birbirini bastırma mücadelesine ilişkin birtakım ilginç bilgiler sunulmuştur.

The “Live Long My Sultan” phrase one of the most heard claps in the official or civil ceremonies from the establishment years of the Ottoman Empire. This clap, had maintained its entity until the end of the 19th century without encounter any opposition. But and especially after the French Revolution started to rise dissident voices against that clap anymore. Besides this situation is not effective for only the Ottoman Empire. Particularly in the states managed with the monarchist system and had multinational structure as the Ottomans ascended dissident voices like “Hurray Independent” or “Hurray Independents of Nations” more strongly. Both the efforts of the monarchist administrators to suppress those voices did not more conclusion and the efforts caused the events to turn into the inextricable state. This mentioned rivalry or tussle maintained until the collapsing of the empires or having the supremacy of the dissident voices against their rivals. In this study shaped in the light of documents obtained from Ottoman Archives of Prime Ministry, some information related to the echoes of the words or sounds at the end of the Ottoman period or to the struggle of sounds to suppress one another has been provided. These words or sounds began with the wording “Live Long My Sultan”, the product of a long tradition in the Ottoman Empire, and with the idiom “Hooray!” beginning to rise after the French Revolution and finally turning into a symbol of independence for all nations when it came to the Abdulhamid II period and going on with the phrases like freedom and constitutional monarchy that threaten the existence of empires and monarchist rulers or with the names of related nations.
