Klasik Türk şiiri, kelimelerin çok değişik anlamlarından yararlanan, değişik benzetme dünyası oluşturan bir şiirdir. “Levend” kelimesi, Türkçe, Farsça, Farsça-Türkçe sözlüklerde farklı anlamları barındırmaktadır. Makalede, bu anlamlardan hangilerinin şiirde kullanıldığı, levendlerle ilgili unsurlar ve onlar etrafında oluşturulan benzetme dünyası örneklerle gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca Osmanlı Devleti’nin bu önemli askerleri, belli bir dönemden sonra toplumda olumsuz, uygun olmayan işler de yapmışlardır. Makalede bu olayların şiire yansıyan yönlerine de yer verilmeye gayret edilmiştir.
The classical Turkish poetry makes use of the various meanings of the words, and it creates a different metaphorical world. The word “Levend” accommodates different meanings in the Turkish, Farsi, Farsi-Turkish dictionaries. In the article it has been attempted to display which of these meanings have been used in poetry, the factors related to levends and the metaphorical world composed around them with examples. Those prominent soldiers of Ottoman Empire were involved in acts inappropriate to the society as well. Therefore, there were also efforts in the article to mention the reflections of those events on poetry.
