Sanatçının kendisini içinde yetiştiği toplumdan soyutlaması mümkün değildir ve eserlerinde, bulunduğu toplumun gerek maddî gerekse manevî değer yargılarına ait ipuçları barındırır. Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk şiirinde şairlerimiz her ne kadar maneviyattan uzaklaşsalar da dinî değerler onların eserlerine kaynaklık etmiştir. Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı bu dönem şairlerimizdendir ve din, onun şiirlerini besleyen önemli kaynaklardan birisidir.
It is not possible for an artist to isolate himself from the society so in his works, he keeps both material and spiritual hints of values of the community he lives with. Although our poets were away from the spirituality during the republican area Turkish poetry, religious values inspired them to produce their works. Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı is one of those poets in this period and religion is one of the sources that inspire his poems.
