İstanbul, kültürel ve tarihi dokusuyla tarih boyunca edebiyatçılara esin kaynağı olmuş ve Türkiye’de edebiyat dünyasının başkenti olma özelliğini çoğu zaman korumuştur. Buna koşut olarak, İstanbul’un bazı kahvehaneleri, pastahaneleri ve meyhaneleri, Cumhuriyet döneminden itibaren, kimi zaman farklı kimi zaman benzer edebiyat anlayışına sahip yazar-çizerlerin uğrak yerleri olmuştur. Söz konusu mekânların önemi, bir tartışma platformu görevi üstlenerek edebiyatçıları kamusal yaşamda bir araya getirmeleri ve genç edebiyat heveslilerine, dönemin önemli edebiyatçılarıyla tanışma imkânı vermeleridir. Bu bildiride, söz konusu mekânların edebiyatçılar açısından yüklendikleri işlevler üzerinde durulacak, İstanbul’un bu tarihi ve kültürel ortamları, dönemin edebiyatçılarının anılarından yola çıkılarak tanıtılacaktır.
Istanbul, with its cultural and historical texture, has been the source of inspiration and has often kept its being the capital of the world of literature throughout history. Accordingly, some cafés, patisseries and pubs have been the haunts, meeting places of writers some of who has different and some of who has similar literary understanding. These places have undertaken the mission of being a discussion platform so they gather the writers in the public sphere and they have given to the young ambitious writers the chance of meeting with the elder writers. In this essay, the functions of these places for literature and writers will be emphasized and these historical and cultural places of Istanbul will be presented in the light of the writers’ memories.
