Gelecekten haber vermek, fetihleri müjdelemek, tehlikelere karşı uyarmak, din değiştirmek, rehberlik etmek, emir ve istekleri iletmek, sağaltmak destanda geçen rüyaların işlevlerindendir.
Dânişmend-nâme is a saga which tells about the Turkish conquest and it was written in old Anatolian Turkish period. İt is one of the most significant work during the formation of Oghuz language. Main plot is the bravery of Melik Gazi and his companions around the province of Tokat. The dreams take place in the plot of Dânişmend-nâme has various functions in this saga.
