Kuzey-batı Ege’de incir ekonomik öneminin yanında çevresinde oluşmuş değerlerle sosyokültürel hayatın önemli bir unsurunu teşkil etmektedir. İncirler kurutularak tüketilmesinin yanı sıra ezme, şekerleme, pasta ve bisküvi imalâtında, etil alkol, ispirto ve pekmez sanayiinde, boya, kozmetik ve ilâç sanayiinde, tıpta, küspesi ise besi yemi imalâtında değerlendirilmektedir. Yazlık bir üretim faaliyeti olan incir ziraatı için yazın mevsimlik göç veya yaylaya çıkmak olarak ifade edilen farklı bir mekâna gidilmektedir. Bu bölgede incirin ziraatında zaman içinde meydana gelen değişikliklerle incir çevresinde gelişen kültürel değerler de kaybolmuştur. Bu çalışmada, bölgedeki incir ziraatının yanı sıra incir çevresinde gelişen kültürel değerler dile getirilmiştir.
Fig cultivation is an important activity in the North East Aegean region; apart from its economic value fig has a pronounced mark on the socioculture of the region. Right along with dried figs, figs are used in the fabrication of marmalade, sweeties, biscuit and sweet-cake; industry of ethyl alcohol, cosmetic, drug and also it’s bagasse is used in the feed industry. Fig cultivation is made in summer therefore people move another place it is called seasonal migration. In recent years some changes happened in fig cultivation and some cultural values are get lost in this region.
