Görkemli bir bozkır kültürüne sahip İskitler tarih sahnesinde sadece savaşçı, iyi ata binen, çok sağlam bir aile yapısına sahip kültürel özellikleri ile yer almazlar. Onlar aynı zamanda çok yetenekli birer el sanatçısıdır. Kıyafetlerini süsledikleri madeni objeleri bir mücevher ustasının tüm inceliğiyle işlemiş, tasarlamış ve çok sayıda tekniği başarıyla kullanmışlardır. Tasarımlarında etkileşimler görülmekle birlikte hayvan mücadeleleri gibi yaşadıkları coğrafya ve yaşam biçimine uygun orijinal temaları kullandıkları da görülmektedir. Anadolu kültüründe yeni yeni bulgularla ortaya çıkan çağdaşı ahşabı altın folyo ile kaplamak, mine ile kakmak, telkâri, taneleme, lehimle, döküm, saç kesme gibi süsleme ve yapım tekniklerini büyük bir ustalıkla kullandıkları anlaşılmaktadır. Özellikle altın işlemeciliğiyle giysilerine etkileyici bir değer katmayı başarmışlardır. Giysi süsü altın levhalarda farklı formlar, figürler ve motifler seçilmiş, Gök tanrı, hayvan ata ve tabiat dini ile ilgili unsurları (Hilal, güneş, yonca, aslan, geyik, koç, kurt vb.) bu giysileri sadece süslemek için değil aynı zamanda totem, sembol ve mevki/makam nişanesi olarak da kullanmışlardır.

İskitler özellikle tarihi ve kültürel açıdan çok sayıda çalışmaya konu edilmiştir. İskit giyim-kuşam kültürü ile ilgili ülkemizde yapılan genel bir çalışma ise yoktur. Giyim kültürlerine yukarıda bahsedilen çalışmaların içerisinde genel hatları ile değinildiği görülür.  Bu çalışmada özellikle görseller üzerinden İskit giyim kuşam kültürü ile ilgili bilgiler verilecek, mezarlardan çıkan giyim kuşam öğeleri ve buluntulara dayalı yeniden canlandırma çizimleri de kullanılarak değerlendirmeler bulunulacaktır. Etkileşim içerisinde oldukları çağdaş toplumlardan Yakın Doğu, Batı ve Uzak Doğu uygarlıkların giyim-kuşamlarına ait benzer ve farklı örneklerle karşılaştırmalar yapılarak, İskit giyim-kuşamının özgün nitelikleri tanımlanmaya çalışılacaktır.

The Scythians, who have a magnificent steppe culture, take their place in history not only with their cultural characteristics of being warriors, good horse riding, and having a very strong family structure. They are also very talented craftsmen. They crafted and designed the metal objects, with which they decorated their clothes, with all the finesse of a jewelery master, and used many techniques successfully. Although interactions are seen in their designs, it is also seen that they use original themes suitable for the geography and lifestyle they live in, such as animal fights. It is understood that they used contemporary decoration and production techniques such as covering wood with gold foil, inlaying with enamel, filigree, graining, soldering, casting, and sheet metal cutting, which emerged with new findings in Anatolian culture, with great mastery. They managed to add impressive value to their clothes, especially with gold embroidery. Different forms, figures and motifs were chosen on the gold plates for clothing ornaments, elements related to the Gok Tanrı, animal ancestors and nature religion (crescent, sun, clover, lion, deer, ram, wolf, etc.) were used not only to decorate these clothes but also totem, they also used it as a symbol and insignia of social status/position.

The Scythians, who are the subject of the study, have been the subjected to many studies, especially in terms of history and culture. On the other hand, there is no general study conducted in our country regarding Scythian clothing culture. It is seen that their clothing culture is mentioned in general terms in the studies mentioned above. In this study, information about the Scythian clothing culture will be given, especially through visuals, and evaluations will be made using clothing items unearthed from the graves and reconstruction drawings based on the finds. An attempt will be introduced about the unique characteristics of Scythian clothing by making comparisons with similar and different examples of the clothing of Near Eastern, Western and Far Eastern civilizations, among the contemporary societies with which they interacted.
