Müzikal heykeller, heykel sanatının mekânsal-biçimsel dili ile müziğin zamansal-akustik boyutunu buluşturarak çağdaş sanat söyleminde özgün bir ara-alan inşa etmektedir. 20. Yüzyıl itibarıyla geleneksel birikiminden yer yer uzaklaşan veya tamamen farklı anlayışların geliştiği heykel sanatı mekan, izleyici ve deneyim odağında katılımlı, sürece dayalı ve kavramsal derinliğe sahip eserlerin üretildiği bir disiplin olmuştur. Benzer şekilde bu değişim süreci müzik alanına da geleneksel kompozisyon kurallarının ötesine geçen sınırların genişlediği doğa, mekan ve rastlantısallığa yer veren eserlerin üretildiği yenilikçi süreçler olarak yansımıştır.  Müzikal heykellerin görsel ve işitsel olarak algılanabilir yönleri çoklu bir duyumsamaya olanak sağlamakta ve bu eserleri, çağdaş sanatın multidisipliner yapısıyla özdeş ve güncel bir alanda konumlandırmaktadır. Bu özellikleriyle müzikal heykeller, kamusal alanlarda etkileşim, farkındalık ve estetik deneyimi bütünleştiren özgün sanat nesneleri olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Bu çalışma The Singing Ringing Tree, Sea Organ, Wave Organ, Forest Megaphones, Harmonic Bridge ve güncel yorumlarıyla Aeolian Harps adlı altı ikonlaşmış müzikal heykel örneği üzerinden müzikal heykellerin estetik, akustik ve sosyo-mekânsal değerlerini disiplinlerarası bir bakışla çözümlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Literatür ve doküman taramasına dayanan betimleyici-yorumlayıcı yöntem, heykel araştırmacısının malzeme-form perspektifi ile müzik araştırmacısının akustik-bestecilik yaklaşımını bütünleştirerek çok yönlü bir veri sentezi sunmuştur. Bulgular, doğal unsurların (rüzgâr, dalga, kentsel gürültü) “ortak besteci” rolü üstlendiğini, izleyicinin pasif gözlemci konumundan etkin katılımcılığa geçtiğini ve kamusal mekânda ekolojik farkındalığı artırdığını göstermektedir. Çalışma, ses heykellerinin kent planlaması ve sürdürülebilir tasarım süreçlerinde işitsel kaliteyi yükseltebilecek potansiyeli vurgulayarak literatüre kavramsal ve yöntemsel bir katkı sunmaktadır.

Musical sculptures establish a unique interstitial space within the discourse of contemporary art by integrating the spatial-formal language of sculpture with the temporal-acoustic dimension of music. Since the 20th century, sculpture has increasingly distanced itself from its traditional foundations, evolving into a discipline centered on space, viewer interaction, and experience—producing participatory, process-oriented works with conceptual depth. A similar transformation has occurred in the field of music, where innovative practices have emerged beyond conventional compositional norms, embracing nature, space, and chance as integral elements. The perceptible visual and auditory qualities of musical sculptures allow for multisensory engagement, positioning these works within the multidisciplinary and dynamic terrain of contemporary art. With these characteristics, musical sculptures are regarded as unique art objects that integrate interaction, awareness, and aesthetic experience within public spaces. This study analyzes the aesthetic, acoustic, and socio-spatial dimensions of six iconic musical sculptures—The Singing Ringing Tree, Sea Organ, Wave Organ, Forest Megaphones, Harmonic Bridge, and contemporary interpretations of Aeolian Harps—through an interdisciplinary lens. Adopting a descriptive and interpretive methodology based on literature and document analysis, the research synthesizes the sculptor’s material-form perspective with the musicologist’s acoustic-compositional approach. The findings reveal that natural elements such as wind, waves, and urban noise act as “co-composers,” that viewers are transformed from passive observers into active participants, and that these works enhance ecological awareness in public space. The study offers both conceptual and methodological contributions to the literature by emphasizing the potential of sound sculptures to improve auditory quality in urban planning and sustainable design contexts.
