Su dünyada bulunan bütün canlılar için bir yaşam kaynağı olduğu bilinmektedir. Canlıların yaşamlarını sağlıklı olarak sürdürebilmelerinin en temel maddesi su’dur. Dünyanın 4/3’ü sular ile kaplı haldedir. Yerkürede üzerinde bulunan suların büyük bir kısmı okyanuslarda bulunmaktadır. Bu suların sadece %2,5 oranındaki kısmını tatlı sulardan oluşmaktadır. Yeryüzünde bulunan bütün canlılar bu sulardan faydalanmaktadırlar. Dünya geneline bakıldığında gelişmiş toplumların bir kısmı ve bazı ticaret yollarının suyun olduğu yerlerde kurulduğu görülür. Yaşam için son derece büyük öneme sahip olan bu maddenin yeryüzüne kattığı önemli bir değer vardır. Bunlar; başta temizlik, beslenme gibi unsurlar bunların en başında gelmektedir.

Sular bazı canlılar için yaşamın merkezi olurken, bazı canlılarında beslendiği alan olmaktadır. Suların ev sahipliği yaptığı bu canlılara su ürünleri denilmektedir. İncelendiğinde su ürünlerinin doğaya sağladıkları faydalarının oldukça fazla olduğu görülür. Bunun yanında insanlara ve diğer canlılara beslenme olanağı da sunmaktadırlar.

İnsanlar yaşamlarını kolaylaştıran etrafında gördükleri her türlü canlıyı çizerek, çizim formlarını farklı zamanlarda ve yaşadıkları mekanlarda kullanmışlardır. Toplumların sanat tarihlerine bakıldığında suda yaşayan canlıların izlerine rastlanmak mümkündür.  Bunlara çoğunlukla edebiyat alanında ve sanat alanında rastlanmaktadır. İnsanlar yaşadıkları çevreyi güzelleştirmek için dekoratif ürünler, giysiler, objeler, modeller kullanmışlardır. Bunlar farklı sanat dalları ile de tanımlanabilmektedir. Su ürünleri bu sanatların içinde çokça görmek mümkün olmaktadır.

Su ürünlerinden esinlenerek ortaya çıkan, mimari ve el sanatları bünyesinde ki eserler gelişim göstererek seramik, ağaç, taş, tekstil, cam, metal, kitap süsleme sanatları vs. olmak üzere zengin bir profil sergilemektedirler. Bu ürünler çeşitli sanat dallarında kullanılarak süsleme ve tasarım üslubuna katkı sağlamışlardır.

Only 2.5% of these waters consist of fresh water. All living things on earth benefit from these waters. When we look at the world in general, we see that some of the developed societies and some trade routes were established in places where there is water. This substance, which is of great importance for life, has a significant value it adds to the earth. These; Factors such as cleanliness and nutrition are the most important of these.

While water is the center of life for some living things, it is also the feeding ground for some living things. These creatures hosted by water are called aquatic products. When examined, it is seen that the benefits of aquatic products to nature are quite high. In addition, they also provide nutrition to humans and other living creatures.

People used drawing forms at different times and in the places they lived, drawing all kinds of creatures they saw around them that made their lives easier. When we look at the art history of societies, it is possible to come across traces of aquatic creatures.  These are mostly found in the field of literature and art. People used decorative products, clothes, objects and models to beautify the environment they lived in. These can also be identified with different branches of art. It is possible to see many seafood products in these arts.

The works of architecture and handicrafts, inspired by aquatic products, developed and became ceramics, wood, stone, textile, glass, metal, book decoration arts, etc. They display a rich profile, including: These products were used in various branches of art and contributed to the decoration and design style.

When evaluated in this context, the aquatic products used in handicrafts; It is aimed to investigate the purposes of use, the techniques used and material properties. In line with this goal, a qualitative and observation-based method will be used. This study is important for the transmission of seafood products to future generations through art.
