Sinema 20.yüzyılın en önemli buluşlarından birisidir. Sinema aracılığıyla tarihin her dönemi beyaz perdeye aktarılabilir. Tarihte yer edinmiş önemli şahsiyetler filmler aracılığı ile geniş kitlelere yeniden anlatılabilir.  Filmler tarihi bir belge niteliğinde değildir, filmler tarihi bir konuyu yeniden yorumlayarak izleyicilere aktarmaktadır.  Sinemanın geniş kitlelere çok kolay bir şekilde mesaj aktarmada kullanılabileceği anlaşıldıktan sonra propaganda amacıyla da kullanılabileceği keşfedilmiştir. Amerikan Hollywood sineması bu bağlamda propaganda amacıyla çekilen politik ve ideolojik kodlar içeren filmlerle doludur.  Hollywood’da çekilen filmler, ABD’nin kültürel, ideolojik ve politik mesajlarını tüm dünyaya yaymada etkin bir şekilde kullanılmıştır.   Bu çalışmanın amacı Adam MCkay’in yönetmenliğini yapmış olduğu Vice filminin   nasıl bir ideolojik/politik söylem ortaya koyduğunu belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Vice filmi, 2001-2009 yılları arasında ABD’de başkan yardımcısı olarak görev yapan Dick Cheney’in hayat hikayesini konu edinmiştir.   Bu çalışmada ideolojik ve politik sinema ilgili araştırmalar kuramsal çerçeve olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada niteliksel söylem analizi ve L. Giannetti’nin ideolojik film analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. L Gianetti’nin karşıt uçlardaki dikotomiler ismini verdiği modele göre bu filmde daha çok otoriterlik, mutlaklık, dindarlık, milliyetçilik, aile/monogami tek eşlilik, rekabet öğeleri üzerinden açık bir şekilde Cumhuriyetçi Parti eleştirisi yapılmakta ve bu öğelerin karşıt uçunda yer alan ögeler vasıtasıyla da Demokrat Parti daha masum bir şekilde sunulmaktadır. Film de Cumhuriyetçi ve Demokrat parti arasında bir denge gözetilmediği anlaşılmaktadır. Ancak film de ABD’nin mevcut temel sistemine karşı da eleştiri olduğu genel olarak söylenebilir.

Çalışmada Vice filminde ideolojik, politik   çok sayıda gizli, açık ve kapalı mesajların olduğunu tespitine varılmıştır.

Cinema was one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. Every period of history can be transferred to films through cinema. Through films, important figures in history can be retold to large audiences. Films are not historical documents; they reinterpret historical subjects and transfer them to the audience. After it was understood that cinema could be used to convey messages to large masses very easily, it was discovered that it could also be used for propaganda. In this context, American Hollywood cinema is full of films that contain political and ideological codes for propaganda. Films shot in Hollywood have been used effectively to spread the cultural, ideological, and political messages of the USA to the whole world. This study aims to determine what kind of ideological/political discourse the movie Vice, directed by Adam MCkay, presents. The vice film  is about the life story of Dick Cheney, who served as the vice president of the USA from 2001 to 2009.   In this study, ideological and political cinema studies are used as the theoretical framework. Qualitative discourse analysis and Giannetti's ideological film analysis were used in this study. According to Gianetti’s model, which he named the dichotomies of opposite ends, in this film, the Republican Party is criticized more explicitly through elements of authoritarianism, absolutism, religiosity, nationalism, family/monogamy, and competition. Conversely, the Democratic Party is portrayed in a more innocent light through elements that stand in contrast. It is evident that the film does not maintain a balance between Republican and Democratic parties. However, it can be generally said that there is criticism of the fundamental system of the United States in the film. In this study, we determined that there are many ideological, political, secret, open, and closed messages in movies.
