Seçim coğrafyası, herhangi bir coğrafi alanda, geçmişte ve günümüzdeki siyasal yönelimleri ve siyasal güç dağılımına ait özellikleri değerlendirmeye imkân sağlarken aynı zamanda geleceğe dair çıkarımlara da temel oluşturmaktadır. Seçmen ile seçilecek aday arasındaki ilişkinin mekânsal dağılımı, bu dağılımı etkileyen etmenler, temsil durumu, bölgesel farklılıklar ve bunların nedenleri seçim coğrafyasının temel konularını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Hatay ili mahalle düzeyinde 2018 yılında yapılan genel seçim sonuçları kullanılarak mekânsal analizler yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada genel seçim sonuçlarına dayanarak Hatay ilinde siyasi, sosyal ve kültürel farklılıkların belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılan veriler Yüksek Seçim Kurulu’ndan temin edilmiş, istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılarak sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Moran’s I, LISA ve HOTSPOT analizleri ile parti tercihlerinin mekânsal dağılışları incelenmiş elde edilen sonuçlar çeşitli tematik haritalar ve tablolar ile gösterilerek değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, Hatay ilinde siyasi, sosyal ve kültürel farklılıklar görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, Hatay ilindeki mekânsal farklılaşmanın siyasi tercihler üzerindeki etkisine dair önemli bulgular elde edilmiştir. Çalışma, politikacıların farklı mekanların farklı ihtiyaçlarını anlamaları ve onlara uygun politikalar geliştirmeleri için önemli veriler sunmaktadır. Mevcut çalışmanın, aynı zamanda diğer alanlarda yapılacak benzer çalışmalar için bir model oluşturacağı ön görülmektedir.

Electoral geography allows evaluating past and present political tendencies and characteristics of political power distribution in any geographical area, while also forming the basis for inferences about the future. The spatial distribution of the relationship between the voter and the candidate to be elected, the factors affecting this distribution, the state of representation, regional differences and their reasons constitute the basic issues of electoral geography. In this study, spatial analyzes were conducted using the general election results held in 2018 at the neighborhood level in Hatay province. The study aimed to determine political, social and cultural differences in Hatay province based on the general election results. The data used in the study was obtained from the Supreme Election Board, and the results were obtained using statistical methods. The spatial distribution of party preferences was examined with Moran's I, LISA and HOTSPOT analyses, and the results were evaluated by showing them with various thematic maps and tables. According to the results obtained, political, social and cultural differences were observed in Hatay province. As a result, important findings have been obtained regarding the effect of spatial differentiation on political preferences in Hatay province. The study provides important data for politicians to understand the different needs of different places and develop appropriate policies. It is anticipated that the current study will also serve as a model for similar studies to be conducted in other fields.
