Sanat eğitiminin en önemli amaçlarından biri görmeyi, dokunmayı, işitmeyi öğretmek ve aynı zamanda bireyin çevresini algılamasını sağlayarak bireyi biçimlendirmeye yöneltmektir. Temel tasarım dersi, öğrencilerin farklı yöntem ve teknikler öğrenerek yaratıcılıklarını geliştiren ve ileride yapacakları çalışmalara temel oluşturan bir derstir. Bu araştımada Kastamonu Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar ve Tasarım Fakültesi Grafik Tasarım Bölümü öğrencilerinin temel tasarım dersi bir günlük gözlem sonuçları doğrultusunda ve eğitsel eleştiri modeline göre değerlendirilmiştir. Bu amaçla eğitim ortamı, öğretim üyesinin genel özellikleri ve ağırlıklı olarak kullandığı öğretim yöntemi, öğrenci profilleri ve öğrencilerin temel tasarım dersine yönelik düşünceleri ile derse katılımları gözlemlenmiştir. Eğitsel eleştiri modeline göre derse ilişkin veriler; gözlem, video kaydı ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre; temel tasarım dersinin verildiği atölyenin fiziki şartlar bakımından genel olarak yeterli olmasına rağmen, eksikliklerinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. 270 dakikalık ders gözlemi sonucunda öğretim üyesinin en çok süreç içinde iletişimsel ve temel bilgi aktarımı yöntemlerini kullandığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Temel tasarım dersinin en çok sevilen ders olduğu ve bunun sebepleri arasında; öğretim üyesinin etkisi, dersin çizim ağırlıklı olması, farklı çizim teknikleri öğrenmenin öğrenciye mutluluk vermesi ve bu dersin öğrencilerin düşüncelerini ifade etmesinde önemli bir ders olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın etik kurul onayı “Kastamonu Üniversitesi Sosyal ve Beşerî Bilimler Araştırma ve Yayın Etiği Etik Komisyonu’nun 17 Mayıs 2022 tarihli 17 sayılı” kararına göre alınmıştır.

One of the most important aims of art education is to teach seeing, touching and hearing and at the same time to direct the individual to form by enabling the individual to perceive his environment. Basic design course is a course that develops the creativity of students by learning different methods and techniques and forms the basis for their future studies. In this research, the basic design course of Kastamonu University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Graphic Design students was evaluated in line with the results of one-day observation and according to the educational criticism model. For this purpose, the educational environment, the general characteristics of the lecturer and the teaching method he predominantly used, the student profiles, and the students' thoughts about the basic design course and their participation in the course were observed. Data related to the course according to the educational criticism model; observation, video recording and semi-structured interview forms. According to the data obtained; Although the workshop, where the basic design course is given, is generally sufficient in terms of physical conditions, it has been determined that there are deficiencies. As a result of 270 minutes of observation, it was concluded that the lecturer mostly used communicative and basic knowledge transfer methods in the process. The basic design course is the most popular course and the reasons for this are; It has been determined that the effect of the lecturer, the fact that the lesson is drawing-oriented, learning different drawing techniques makes the student happy, and this lesson is an important lesson for students to express their thoughts.
