Her ne kadar uygulaması eskilere dayansa da teorik anlamda 1960’lardan sonra özellikle Postmodernizm ve Yapısökümcülük çerçevesinde belirlenen Metinlerarasılık, metinlerin kendinden önceki metinlerle bir ilişki içinde olduğunu ifade etmektedir. Buna göre her metin farklı şekillerde (alıntı, gönderme, parodi, pastiş) diğer metinlerle bir bağ içinde bulunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda metinler hem diğer metinlerle olan ilişkisi, hem de okuyucunun tecrübe ve birikimi çerçevesinde anlam kazanarak yorumlanırlar. Bu makalede Thomas Mann’ın ilk eserlerinden olan ve 1905 yılında kaleme alınan Wälsungenblut eseri Metinlerarasılık bağlamında ele alınacaktır. Thomas Mann’ın eserlerinde Richard Wagner’in müziğini çoğunlukla motif olarak kullandığı bilinmektedir. Makalede amaç Thomas Mann’ın Wälsungenblut novelinde Wagner’in Valküreler operasından ne şekilde etkilendiği ve bu eser ile nasıl bir bağ kurduğu araştırılacaktır.
Intertextuality, which has been already used earlier, and whose theoretical framework was already determined in the 1960s in the wake of postmodernism and deconstructionism, points to the connection between a text and earlier texts. As a result, each text is connected with other texts in different ways (cite, send, parody, pastiche). In this context, texts gain importance regarding to their relationship to other texts as well as to the reader's experience, and they are thereby being commented. In this essay, Thomas Mann's work Wälsungenblut, one of the author's first works and written in 1905, is analyzed in terms of intertextuality. It is well known that Thomas Mann frequently uses Richard Wagner’s music as a motif in his works. The aim of the essay is to analyze how Thomas Mann was influenced by Wagner's opera “The Valkyrie” while writing his novella and how he combines his novella with this work.
