Özet Bu yazının konusu, Tanzimat dönemi ansiklopedi, tarih ve sözlük yazarı olarak bilinen Yağlıkçı-zâde Ahmed Rif'at Efendi' nin (ö.1312/1894) Lügât-ı Târîhiyye ve Coğrâfiyye adlı ansiklopedik eserdeki şair biyografileridir. Bu eser aslında, meşhur şahıslar ve müelliflerin biyografileri, önemli olaylar, tarih boyunca kurulmuş devletler ve belli başlı şehirlerin tarihi ve coğrafyaları hakkında alfabetik maddeler hâlinde bilgiler verdiğinden dolayı kapsamlı bir tarih ve coğrafya sözlüğü sayılırsa da öteki ilim ve fenlere dair pek çok bilgiyi de ihtiva etmesi bakımından genel bir ansiklopedi niteliği taşımaktadır. Tarih ve coğrafya ansiklopedisi olarak bilinen bu eserin içerisinde yer yer bazı şairlerin ve ediblerin kısa biyografilerine de verilmiştir. Bu şairler, bilinen şairler olsa da eserin bu yönüne dikkat çekmek ve içerisindeki şairlerin biyografilerini araştırmacıların istifadesine sunmak bu yazının temel amacıdır. EserinVII ciltlik eski harfli matbu nüshası taranarak şair kimliği ile bilinen ve şiirle ve edebiyatla uğraşan, şahsiyetlerin biyografileri tespit edilmiş ve çevriyazıya aktarılmıştır. Bu şahsiyetlerin Türk Edebiyatı sahasından olmasına dikkat edilmiştir. Eser içerisinde Türk Edebiyatının hemen her dönemine ait 45 şair şair biyografisi tespit edilmiştir. Biyografilerin tespitinde, şairliği ile tanınmış şahsiyetlerin yanında, tasavvufi kişiliği, bilim adamlığı, devlet adamlığı ve başka yönleri ile öne çıkmış, bunun yanında şiirle ve edebiyatla uğraşmış kişiler de göz önünde bulundurulmuştur. Bu biyografiler, şairlerin hayatı ve edebî kişiliği çerçevesinde genel bir değerlendirilmeye tabi tutulmuştur.

Abstract The subject of this article is thebiographies of the poets in the encyclopedic work Dictionary of History and Geography of Yaglikci-zade Ahmed Rifat Efendi (d.1312/1894) who known as encyclopedia, history and dictionary writer at the the period of Tanzimat. This work, known as an encyclopedia of history and geography, contains some biographies of some poets and litterateurs as well. It is the main purpose of this article to take attention to this aspect of the work and to present the biographies of the poets to the benefit of the researchers, although these poets are famous poets, Thebiographies of the figures known with poeticand litterateur identities were identified in seven volumed printed copy of the work and transcribed to the current Turkish alphabet. It’s been considered poets and litterateurs besides well-known personalities, sufistic personalities, scholars, and statesmen or the people come to the forefront with other specialities. We paid attention that these individuals were from the field of Turkish Literature. We detected Dictionary of History and Geography 45 biographies of poets belonging to almost every period of Turkish Literature in the work. These biographies have been subjected to a general evaluation within the framework of the life and litterateur personality of the poets.
