AN INVESTIGATION ON THE CHRISTIANITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV AND THE CINEMA FILM ORDET


Brothers Karamazov is the masterpiece work of Russian novelist Mihaylovich Dostoyevsky that was written towards the end of his life is. The novel is about a family's drama in which personal, social and religious interrogations have been taken as a topic through a father and his sons. In this composition, Dostoevsky, who tried to examine the depths of the human spirit through his psychological analysis, has questioned the belief in Christianity in detail. On the other hand Ordet is a movie that produced in 1955 by Danish filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer. Same as Brothers Karamazov, this work take subject of a father and his sons' about questioning of Christianity by a farmer's family. One of which is literary and the other visual, these two different branches of art have similarity in many ways. The both work are subject of conflict and reconciliation between Christianity and the mind. Here, Christianity is scrutinised in depth through the heroes of these work. In this study, through disciplinary perspective of history of religions and in a context of cinema and literature arts, how the Christianity was handled in novel Brothers Karamazov and movie work Ordet. While the texts and characters were being analyzing, the phenomenological and comparative approach of the history of religions has been used.
