İsmail Belîğ H. 1079-M. 1668 tarihinde Bursa’da doğmuştur. Asıl adı İsmail olup Bursalı İsmail Belîğ olarak tanındı. Dedesi, Seyyid Mehmed Şahin Emîrzade sanıyla bilinen Mantıcı mescidi imamı İbrahim Efendi’dir. Devinde şair, tarihçi ve bilim adamı olarak tanınan İsmail Belîğ, 10 Nisan 1729-22 Ramazan 1142 yılında Bursa’da ölmüştür. Bilindiği üzere Divan edebiyatındaki biyografik eserlerde yazarlar, şairlerin hayatını anlatırken şairlerin ölümünden sıradan bir şekilde bahsetmezler. İslami inancın verdiği saikle ölümü şiirsel bir atmosfer ve söz oyunlarıyla anlatıp, okuyucunun zihninden ölümün soğuk ve esrarlı özelliğini silmeye ve okuyucunun hayal dünyasında ölümle ilgili hoş bir tesir bırakmaya çalışır. Bu çalışmada, İsmail Beliğ’in “Nuhbbetü’l–Âsâr Li-Zeyli Zübdeti’l-Eş’âr” isimli tezkiresinde şairlerin ölümünü anlatırken kullandığı ifadeler ve söyleyiş tarzı incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın giriş kısmında ölüm kavramı ve akabinde İsmail Beliğ’in hayatı ve eserleri üzerinde durulmuş, ikinci ve çalışmanın esasını teşkil eden kısımda ise Beliğ Tezkiresi’ndeki ölüm ifadeleri ve söyleyiş tarzları ele alınmıştır. Son kısımda ise söz konusu tezkirede geçen ölüm ifadelerinin tam listesi sunulmuştur. İsmail Beliğ hayatını anlattığı şairlerin ölümünü ifade ederken; muhayyilesinin genişliğini, kelime haznesinin zenginliğini gözler önüne sermiştir. Ayrıca, ölüm denen soğuk vakanın yukarıdaki ifadelerle hoş bir nağmeye dönüştüğü, yazarın ölümü şiir tadında, çeşitli söz oyunlarıyla anlattığı da müşahede edilmektedir. Vefatı anlatan ifadelerden ölümün soğukluğu hissedilmemektedir.

Ismail Belig H. was born in Bursa in 1668. His real name was Ismail and was known as Bursali Ismail Belig. His grandfather, İbrahim Efendi who is known as Seyyid Mehmed Şahin, is the imam (Muslim preacher) of Mantıcı mosque. Ismail Belik, who was renowned as a poet, historian and scientist in his age, died in Bursa on April 10, 1729-22, Ramadan 1142. As it is known, in biographical works in Divan literature, writers do not express the death of poets ordinarily while addressing the lives of poets. They mention the death in a poetic atmosphere with word plays and they would like to clear away the cold and mysterious quality of death and make a positive impression on the readers’ minds. In this study, the expressions and style used by Ismail Belig while describing the deaths of the poets in the collection of biographies entitled “Nuhbbetü’l–Âsâr Li-Zeyli Zübdeti’l-Eş’âr” were investigated. In the introduction part, the concept of death and subsequently Ismail Belig’s biography and his works are introduced. In the second and the central part, the expressions of death in Belig tezkirah are handled. In the last part of the study, a complete list of the expressions of death in the work is presented. Ismail Belig lays bare his extensive vocabulary and imagination. Furthermore, it is concluded that even a grim event such as death turns out to be a positive one with poetic taste by the help of expressions used in the work. It coldness of death is not felt from the expressions mention the death.
