COMPARISON OF COMPOUND SENTENCE STRUCTURES OF TURKISH IN AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY

Comparative language studies have an important position in the differences arisen over time between Turkish dialects and in researching and finding these differences. This article focuses on the compound sentence structure in Turkish in Turkey and its correspondence in Turkish in Azerbaijan. Term and classification differences of sentence types in Turkish in Turkey are a problem that still continues at the present time. Especially, topic of compound sentence has been being approached diversely in the grammar of Turkish in Turkey. By considering there are no various classifications and a unity in it, the dissection of Muharrem Ergin “conditional compound sentence, ki’li compound sentence, iç-içe compound sentence” was used as a base.In Turkish in Azerbaijan, compound sentences are studied under two main titles as independent compound sentence (tabesiz mürekkeb cümle) and dependent compound sentence (tabeli mürekkeb cümle). The notion of independent compound sentence is equal to the notion of sequential sentence of Turkish in Turkey. The types of compound sentences are studied under the title of dependent compound sentence. Although the classification approach of Turkish in Turkey is according to the features of the sentence structure; in Turkish in Azerbaijan, it is done according to the features of sense and structure. Classifications of dependent compound sentences are done according to the structures of the sentences and the types of helping sentences. The types of subordinate clauses are shaped by the main sentence and named by sentence elements. Dependent compound sentences in Turkish in Azerbaijan are separated as; mübteda budag cümlesi, heber budag cümlesi, tamamlıg budag cümlesi, teyin budag cümlesi, zerflik budag cümlesi. In the study, different and similar aspects of the compound sentence structures in both dialects will be analyzed based on the samples extracted from literary texts.
