Tasavvuf ehlinin hac ibadetinin maneviyatı ve batınına yönelik yorumları kendine has bir dil ve terminoloji doğurmuştur. Tarih içinde Sûfilerin bu ibadetin farziyeti, özde ne olması gerektiği, kabulü ve ön koşullarına dair sarsıcı uyarıları hac rukunlarını hafife aldıkları yönündeki eleştirilere yol açmışsa da bu farklılıkların ibadetin batınına dikkat çekme çabası olduğu aşikardır. Hac yolculuğu ve ibadeti, manevi merhaleleri kat eden her kadın ve erkek Sûfi için farklı bir amaca yönelik olmuş ve temelde seyru sülükün tamamlanmasında önemli bir unsur olarak görülmüştür.
