Bu çalışmanın amacı, özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarının “müzik” kavramına ilişkin betimlemeler yaparken kullandıkları metaforları belirlemek ve bu metaforları seçme nedenlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 2017-2018 Öğretim Yılı Güz Yarıyılında Uludağ Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Özel Eğitim Bölümüne devam eden 128 öğretmen adayından oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri açık uçlu soru formu aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmen adaylarından “Müzik…….gibidir/e- benzer, çünkü, ………..” cümlesini tamamlamaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden içerik analiz tekniği kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Çalışma sonunda “müzik” kavramı hakkında terapi, arkadaş, besin gibi ifadelerin de yer aldığı toplam 73 metafor belirlenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının oluşturduğu metaforlar toplam 8 kategori altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Elde edilen metaforlar incelendiğinde, “müzik” kavramının birden fazla ve birbirinden farklı metaforlarla açıklandığı, bu metaforların ağırlıklı olarak iyileştirici/sakinleştirici/tedavi edici yönüyle müzik ve rahatlatıcı/dinlendirici/huzur veren yönüyle müzik kategorilerinde toplandığı görülmüştür.
The purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of special education teacher candidates by using metaphors regarding the concept of “music” while revealing the reasons for choosing these metaphors. The participants are made up of 128 special education teacher candidates studying in Special Education Department at the Uludag University Education Faculty during the year 2017-2018. This study is structured as a qualitative descriptive research. The data was collected using a questionnaire made up of open-ended questions. The participants were asked to fill the blanks of such sentence as “Music is like/similar to….…because….…”. Qualitative procedures were utilized when analysing the data. By the end of the process various metaphors were determined. According to the results, 73 different metaphors under 8 categories were determined. When examining the metaphors that were obtained, we can see that the concept of “music” was revealed as being more than one and all different from one another and these metaphors were mainly used under the categories of “music as a source of happiness, motivation and energy” and “music as a relaxation, comforting and soothing tool”
