THE COMPARISON OF HEART METAPHOR IN YUNUS EMRE AND FEQIYÊ TEYRAN’S POEMS


Yunus Emre is a great sufi and poet around both Islam and Turk World. The pure and kind poems he wrote in Turkish language have always taken the attention of public and literature searchers. On the other hand Faqiyê Teyran is also known around the Eastern Turkey and Northern Irak with his sufic poems in an understandable form. Poets have always used heart as a crucial metaphor in their poems in different senses. When someone uses it as his darling and love destination someone uses it God’s palace in his body. Therefore heart is seen in different windows. Faqiyê Teyran and Yunus Emre have focused on this metaphor too much on their poems and given different means to it. In this work the heart metaphor is discussed firstly, then lives of both poets and their focuses on that metaphor are evaluated. Finally the similarities and differences between them are considered.
