VIEW OF HUMAN EXISTENCE FROM HISTORICAL DISASTER: LAST DAY OF POMPEI, K.BRYULLOV AND A.PUSHKIN

Pompei city, which was destroyed by the lava of Vesuvius volcano in M.S.79, is one of the main events of ancient history. This city, which comes back together with the excavation works done in the 18th century, becomes one of the topics of antique art works. The last day of Pompei, painting by one of the leading Russian painters of the 19th century Karl Bryullov, between 1830 and 1833, attracted great interest both in western and Russian art. The purpose of our work is to examine the phenomenon of death, one of the main features of human existence, in Bryullov's tablature, which deals with the collapse of the city of Pompei, After examining Bryullov's paintings, the influence of this painting on the creativity of the famous poet Aleksandr Pushkin, who is contemporary with the painter, will be examined.
