Doküman incelemesi yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada, 1939-1953 yılları arasında ‘Hareket Dergisi’nde yayınlanan Nurettin Topçu’ya ait yazılar ve konu ile ilgili diğer bazı eserleri dikkate alınarak ahlak ve şahsiyet kavramları ele alınıp incelenmiştir. Topçu’ya göre okul, öğrenciyi hür iradesiyle düşünebilen bir şahsiyet sahibi yapmalıdır. Böyle yetişen insan, haksızlıklara başkaldıran, sorumluluğunun bilincinde, işinin ehli, fedakâr ve neye hizmet ettiğinin bilincinde olacaktır. Ona göre “ahlakta olduğu gibi; adaletin temelinde de isyan vardır. İşte yüzyılımızın bunalımı, hak yiyenlerin varlığından ziyade; onların karşısında isyan eden karakter ve asi ruhların yokluğudur” diyen Nurettin Topçu, şahsiyet sahibi insan, İstiklal Şairimiz Mehmet Akif’i örnek göstererek, onun gibi sorumluluk sahibi ve ilkeli olmalıdır der. Karaktersiz ve ahlaksız insanı ise; her devirde, her ortama uymasını bilen tipler olarak belirtir. Bu yüzden eğitim kurumlarımızdan Akif gibi şahsiyet abideleri yetişmelidir der. Bu araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre Nurettin Topçu, öğretmenin ve okulun, çocuğun ahlak ve şahsiyetinin gelişmesinde son derece önemli rolü olduğunu, ailenin ise çocuğun ahlaki gelişimine pek katkısının bulunmadığını belirtmektedir. Çeşitli grupların veya sosyal örgütlerin toplumun ahlakına katkıdan ziyade, üyelerini şahsiyetsizleştirdiği düşüncesi Nurettin Topçu’da hâkimdir. Nurettin Topçu’ya göre şahsiyet sahibi insanın en önemli özelliği, sorumluluk bilincinde olması ve ilkeli davranmasıdır. Ayrıca ruhunda isyan taşımayan, haksızlıklara ve zulümlere başkaldırmayan insan ne kadar iyi olursa olsun Topçu’ya göre ahlaklı değildir.

In this research, the method of document review is used. The research examined the concepts of morality and personality according to the writings of Nurettin Topçu published in ‘Journal of Hareket” between 1939-1953 and some other studies related to the subject. According to Topçu, the school will be aware of the fact that the student is a person who has a personality that can think freely, rebels against injustices, is conscious of freedom, is competent, self-sacrificing and serves what he is. According to him, as in morality, the presence of justice is also a rebellion. Here is the crisis of the century, the presence of the rightful people; Nurettin Topçu, an individual with personality, refers to Mehmet Akif, our Independent Poet, as his responsible and principled points. He is a characterless and immoral person; in his age, as the types who know how to comply with the medal. Therefore, our educational institutions should be able to grow individuals like Akif. According to the results of this study, Nurettin Topçu stated that teacher and school play a crucial role in the development of the child's morality and personality, while the family does not contribute much to the child's moral development. Various groups or social organizations do not contribute to community morality. According to Nurettin Topçu these organizations make their members dishonor. The most important feature of the honorable person is responsibility and principle. Furthermore, Nurettin Topçu stated that if a person does not rebel against injustices, he is not a honest person.
