Changes in the Poems of Ilhan Gecer

Mustafa Ilhan Geçer is a member of the traditionalist-innovative Hisar community. Starting from childhood, the poet had a passion about literature, especially about poetry and tried to seek refuge in verses so as to get rid of troubles he has experienced and for purification. For Geçer, who stated that most beautiful poetry is the new poetry root of which is in the past, poets that are not based on tradition, public and language of public cannot be long-lived. The number of poems are 32 in Büyüyen Eller, 29 in Belki, 43 in Bir Bulut Geçti (8 of which are from his previous books), 25 in Yeşil Çağ (11 of which are from his previous books), 85 in Hüzzam Beste (38 of which are from his previous books) 57 out of 214 poems were repeated in different pieces of art. The language that constitutes the ground of the literary work is an emotion-meaning integrity rather than the material. The preference of the smallest unit even carries hints to interpret the style. The fact that Geçer used repetition frequently in his books and periodicals means the differentiation of poetry style, verses and words. passage is frequent publications or frequent repetitions in books; means the differentiation of verse form, verses and words. The poet enjoyed seeing his poems published in different magazines. For this reason, he often published the same poem in different magazines. However, during this publication, poet applied changes in words, verse, and sometimes quatrain or paragraph. From time to time, he changed the position of the poetry unit just like the verses and words. These changes in the poet's poetry are in fact the result of pursuit for permanence through art. It can be interpreted as a quest for permanence and deep harmony which is attempted to be established between emotions and point of view about life and voices, words and higher level of semantic associations.
