Protection of architectural work is one of the most important events in ensuring cultural transmission between generations. Cappadocia region come forward with registered civil architecture works around it besides being a natural protected area. In the scope of Nevşehir Castle and Surrounding Urban Transformation Project started in 2012, it is identified that the registered works located in the area were damaged. This change in the area exposed the isues of protecting the samples of monumental and civil architecture which are cultural heritage. Since there isn’t a study especially to determine the samples of civil architecture, a trial has been prepared to fulfil this deficiency. The data has been collected by institution archive work, literature review, field work, photo documenation and oral interview. 39 registered architectural works has been examined in place and conditions are photographed. Proposals have been developed to protect civil architecture works which are categorized according to its conditions. On the one hand, identifying some underground tunnel and rock cavities during urban transformation studies demonstrates that the area has layered structure, on the other hand it shows the importance of the necessity of making decission by considering the area as a whole to protect cultural heritage. The decisions shouldn’t be on a single structure based and should show us the necessity of cultural heritage area management plan which covers all the area. Protecting historical buildings, building groups and historical areas not only inform us about form and structure as a mean of technical sense but also inform about its term, sociological conditions, lifesytle, and the religious and economic situation.
