The purpose of this study is to determine the course and direction of the internal migration movements of Sivas between the years of 1975 and 2015. For this purpose; and theprovince has received migrations, which gave the most emigrate to provinces, which migrated from cities and the factors that impact on migrations were investigated. The population of the province, which was 329.741 in 1927 when the first population census was carried out in the Republican history, continuously increased until 1985 and reached the number of 772.209. The population of the province, which has the tendency of decreasing after this period, declined to 618.617 in 2015. The migration movements within the province have been influential in this decrease. Sivas, which is one of the provinces of Turkey that sends the largest numbers of the immigrants since the 1970s, has mostly sent immigrants to İstanbul, Ankara, Kayseri, İzmir and recently to Antalya, while receiving the most immigrants from İstanbul, Ankara, Tokat, Kayseri, Izmir and Malatya. The physical geography factors of the Area such as the higher topographic elevation value, mountainous and rugged physical structure and the adverse effects of the continental climate conditions on agricultural activities, and the human factors such as the province’s being socio-economically undeveloped, being inadequate in terms of industrialization, the emergence of the unemployment problem that accompany the growing population of young people have affected the migratory movements that have caused a decrease in the provincial population.
