Bu çalışmada Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının Avrupa tarihi konularının öğretiminde kullanılan bazı kavramlara yönelik bilgi düzeylerini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma 2017-2018 eğitim ve öğretim yılında bir devlet üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesi’nin Türkçe ve Sosyal Bilimler Eğitimi Bölümü Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında son sınıfta öğrenimine devam etmekte olan 37 öğretmen adayı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada Yükseköğretim Kurulu(YÖK) tarafından hazırlanan eğitim fakültelerinin öğretmen yetiştirme programında yer alan Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Lisans Programına göre öğretmen adaylarının dört yıllık lisans eğitimleri süresince Sosyal Bilgiler eğitimi anabilim dalında doğrudan Avrupa Tarihine veya Avrupa Tarihinin öğretimine yönelik bir ders almadıkları görülmüştür. Avrupa Tarihi konularına “Eskiçağ Tarihi ve Uygarlığı”, “Ortaçağ Tarihi” ve “Yeni ve Yakınçağ Tarihi” adlı dersler içerisinde yer verilmiştir. Çalışmada uygulanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formunda yer alan kavramların tespitinde alana hakim olan akademisyenlerin görüşlerine, akademik yayınlara ve güncel sosyal bilgiler ders kitaplarına başvurulmuştur. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile yukarıda söz edilen dersleri almış olan ve son sınıfta öğrenimine devam eden sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının Avrupa tarihine yönelik bazı kavramları açıklamaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler nitel çalışma modellerinden olgubilim ve doküman incelemesi yöntemleri ile değerlendirilmiş, tablolar oluşturularak yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda Avrupa Tarihine yönelik bazı kavramları Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adaylarından bazılarının tam ve doğru olarak cevapladıkları, bazılarının başka kavramlarla karıştırarak yanılgıya düştükleri, bazılarının ise söz konusu kavramları tamamen yanlış cevapladıkları görülmüştür.

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the knowledge levels preservice social sciences teachers towards some of the concepts used in the teaching of European history topics. The study was conducted with 37 preservice social sciences teachers who were attending last year's department of Social Sciences Education Department of Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education of Faculty of Education of a state university in 2017-2018 education year. According to the Undergraduate Program of Social Studies Teacher Education, which is included in the teacher training program of the education faculties prepared by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), it has been seen that the preservice social sciences teachers' candidates did not take a course on European History or European History teaching in the course of Social Studies Education. European History subjects are included in courses called "Ancient History and Civilization", "Medieval History" and "New and Contemporary History". In the determination of the concepts included in the semi-structured interview form applied in the study, the views of the scholars who are dominant in the field, academic publications and current social studies textbooks were applied. The semi-structured interview form and the preservice social studies teachers' who have taken the above mentioned courses and continue their education in the last semester are required to explain some concepts of European history. The obtained data were evaluated qualitative research models by phenomenology and document examination methods and tables were created and interpreted. As a result of the study, it has been seen that some of the concepts of European History were answered by some of the preservice Social Studies teachers' correctly, some of them mixing with other concepts, and some of them had been completely misunderstood.
