The use of the right to self determination is interpreted in a very different way by the ending manifestation of independence, states and even international organizations. The legitimacy of independence brings with it international recognition. While States generally use the definition to refer to the adoption of the new formation as a family of states and to communicate with them that they are ready to cooperate with it, their recognition also has a negative implication. For recognition, states are paying attention to ensuring sovereignty over the region and not contradicting a rule under international law. Based on these statements, the states that are trying to find a place in the political system because they are ignored and they are not accepted. Today, international organizations as well as governments are active in the international political system. The generally accepted view is that the object and the most important element of the international political system is the state, but international organizations are also eroding the sovereignty of the states. Nowadays, when many decisions are taken from the centers of international organizations, the need to utilize the support of these emerging organizations that proclaim statehood becomes apparent. The United Nations, which has a positive attitude towards Kosovo's independence and a negative attitude towards the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is the most important example on this issue. The United Nations position in both events, the state of Kosovo have affected the attitudes and recognizing today by more than 100 states, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognized by Turkey. At this point, it is necessary for the two states to disclose their differences and similarities at the United Nations and to discuss the decisions of the United Nations. In this study, the United Nations' approach to the concept of international recognition will be examined in Kosovo and the Turkish Republic of Northen Cyprus examples. The organization will try to show how it influenced the decisions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, and how it made inferences in the states.
