Araştırmanın temel amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler derslerine yönelik gerçekleştirilen tasarım etkinliklerine ilişkin görüşlerini incelemektir. Bu temel amaç doğrultusunda sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin hem genel olarak derslerinde hem de ‘Elektronik Yüzyıl’ ünitesinde gerçekleştirdikleri tasarım etkinlikleri ile tasarım sürecinde yaşanılan deneyimler incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada yöntem olarak nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak da araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen, içinde açık uçlu soruların yer aldığı üç bölümden oluşan form kullanılmıştır. Formun ilk bölümünde sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çalıştıkları okul, kıdem ve cinsiyetlerine ilişkin sorular, ikinci bölümünde genel olarak derslerin kendilerine ve öğrencilere yönelik tasarım etkinliği yapma durumları ve tasarım etkinliğinin gerekliliğine ilişkin görüşlerini oraya çıkarmak amacıyla oluşturulan sorular, üçüncü bölümünde ise öğretmenlerin ‘Elektronik Yüzyıl’ ünitesi için öğrencilere ve öğretmenlere yönelik tasarım örneklerini ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlayan sorular yer almaktadır. Araştırmada elde edilen sosyal bilgiler öğretmen görüşleri betimsel ve içerik analizi şeklinde çözümlenerek tablolaştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda çalışma grubunda yer alan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin ders kapsamında, hem öğretmenlerin hem de öğrencilerin tasarım etkinlikleri yapmasının gerekli olduğu görüşüne sahip olduklarına ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca çalışma grubunda yer alan öğretmenlerin öğrencilerine yönelik tasarım etkinlikleri yaptırmalarına karşın, kendilerinin derslerine yönelik olarak fikir bulma, zaman probleminin olması ve maliyetli bir süreç olması gibi problemler yaşadıklarından dolayı tasarımlar yapamadıkları da saptanmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak, çalışma grubunda yer alan öğretmenlerin ‘Elektronik Yüzyıl’ ünitesi için öğrencilere yönelik daha fazla tasarım örneği verdikleri, öğretmenlere yönelik verdikleri tasarım örneklerinin ise sınırlı sayıda olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The main purpose of the research is to examine the social studies teachers' views on design activities for social studies courses. In line with this main objective, the social studies teachers have studied both the design activities in the general classes and the 'Electronic Century' and the experiences in the design process. The study group of the study was composed of social science teachers. Phenomenology has been used as a method in qualitative research methods. The data collection tool was developed by researchers and used three forms in which open ended questions were included. In the first part of the questionnaire, questions were asked about social studies teachers 'questions about their school, seniority and gender, in the second part the opinions about the necessity of design activity and the necessity of design activity for the students and the students in general in the second part. In the third part teachers' 'Electronic Century' questions aiming to reveal design examples for students and teachers. The social information obtained in the research is tabulated by analyzing teacher opinions in the form of descriptive and content analysis. As a result of the research, it was reached that the social studies teachers in the working group had the idea that both teachers and students should do design activities within the scope of the lesson. In addition, although the teachers in the working group had to do design activities for their students, they were also found to be unable to design because of problems such as finding ideas for their lessons, having time problems and being a costly process. In addition to these, teachers in the working group have provided more design examples for the students for the 'Electronic Century' unit, and the limited number of design examples for the teachers have been reached.
