Eşyalar yaşamlara dair izler taşır. Eşyanın üretildiği malzeme, üzerindeki süsleme kullanıcısının ekonomik durumunu yansıttığı gibi zevk ve sanat anlayışını gösterir. Hatta toplumsal ilişkileri, yaşam standardı hakkında bilgi verir. Kullanıldığı dönemin moda anlayışına ışık tutar. Zamanla zarar görseler, kullanılamayacak biçimde olsalar da Osmanlı’nın kişilerin ölümünden sonra tutmuş olduğu ayrıntılı tereke kayıtları bu eşyaların varlığından haberdar olmamızı sağlamaktadır. Maddi değerini tespit edebilmek için eşyanın detaylarına yer veren bu kayıtlar son derece önemlidir. Osman Ağa’nın terekesi İstanbul Müftülüğü, Şeriye Sicilleri, Kısmet-i Askeri Kassam defterinde bulunmaktadır. Prut seferindeki faaliyetlerinden ötürü önce başarılı bulunup taltif edilen Osman Ağa daha sonra suçlu bulunarak katledilmiştir. Bu nedenle malları Beytülmal’a kalmıştır. Osman Ağa Antalyalı’dır. Hazinedarlık’tan sonra Birun ve taşrada önemli görevlerde bulunmuştur. Bu özellikleri ile Osmanlı elitini temsil etmektedir. Yaşadığı dönem Osmanlı erken modern dönemin son zamanlarıdır. Osmanlı tarihi açısından bu dönem birçok yönden bir dönemin kapanışını, yeni bir dönemin tohumunun atıldığı zamandır. Toplumun alt kesimleri, sosyal yaşam açısından elit kısmı taklit etmiştir. Bu nedenle Osman Ağa’nın bir Osmanlı eliti olarak yaşamının ipuçlarını sunan terekesinin incelenmesi bu değişimin yakalanabileceği yerlerden biri gibi durmaktadır.

Belongings bear traces from lives. These traces are sought on the ornament on the material of the produced good. These reflect the economic situation of the user as well as present his/her sense of taste and art and even provide information about his/her social relations and life standard. It offers an insight into the sense of fashion for the period. Even the belongings get damaged in time and become out of use, the estate registrations kept by the Ottomans after the death of people makes us hear of such belongings. Such registrations are very important as they include the details of belongings in order to identify their material values. Estate of Osman Aga is available at Istanbul Office of Mufti, Sharriya Registrations, book of Kısmet-i Askeri Kassam. Osman Aga was honoured for his activities in Pruth war in the beginning; however, he was found guilty afterwards and murdered. Therefore, his wares were passed to the treasury. Osman Aga is from Antalya. After serving as a Treasurer, he has accomplished important duties in Birun and field. With his such characteristics, he represents the elite of the Ottoman. The period he has lived was the last times of the Ottoman's early modern age. In terms of Ottoman history, this period is a closure of one period in many aspects and a time frame which a new period's seeds were sown. Culturally deprived of the society has imitiated the elite population in terms of social life. Therefore, review of Osman Aga's estate that offers clues for an Ottoman elite before the tulip era seems one of the points where this change might be visible.
