Sufis’ opinions on Mahdi, who lived in hijri III. and IV. century, in other words, the second phase of the formation process of sufism, will be widely discussed. For, Sufis, who lived in a period from “era of bliss” until Hijri II century, seems to haven’t dealt with any other subjects except for “mücahede” (struggling with your body’s deceptive desires), asceticism, ecstasy. On the other hand, there are opinions and views of Sufis who lived between hijri III and IV. century in which Sufism culture became systematized. For, Sufis who lived in III and IV. century, tried mostly to specialise on metaphysics and the knowledge of unseen world unlike the early term Sufis. Muhyiddin İbni Arabi is. So, dwelling on the views and opinions on Mahdi in detail will be definitely a true approach. As for the cults period, which is accepted as the last phase of the formation process of gnostic tradition; Mahdi imagination will be dealt within the context of “period of ahl-i sunnah Sufism” that started with Ghazali. In this context, we will also dwell on Mahdi, Messiah, Dajjal imaginations conveying in sahih hadith sources. Also there will be evaluation on Mahdi imagination in cults era which we call “Alh-i Sunnah Sufism”. No doubt, hadith narratives have very deep effect on Sufi intelligence. So, within the context of ahl-i sunnah Sufism, this paper will give place to the evaluations on Mahdi imagination of last period sufis by moving from the hadiths conveyed from sources other than “Kütüb-i Sitte”. We will reveal the ties between saviour ship mission which burdened to one man and “qutb” notion which appeared in Sufi tradition as the peak point of saint’s hierarchy, that means “Qutb” can manage the whole affairs in the universe.
