Edebiyatta ötekilik meselesi birçok yazar tarafından bilinçli veya bilinçsiz olarak kullanılagelen bir olgudur. İnsan kendi kimliğini oluştururken ötekine ihtiyaç duyar, zira öteki olmadan kendini tanımlaması mümkün değildir. Tarih boyunca birbirini ötekileştiren Batı ve İslam dünyasını bizzat kendi yaşadıklarından yola çıkarak en iyi şekilde analiz etmeyi başaran önemli isimlerden biri İspanyol yazar Juan Goytisolodur. Bu çalışmada Goytisolo’nun bazı eserlerinde öteki kavramını irdelemeyi amaçladık. Bu bağlamda Batı, özellikle de İspanyol edebiyatındaki Türklere dair öteki kimliğinden bir takım örnekler verirken, Batı edebiyatında genel olarak görülen önyargı ve klişelere de değinmeye çalıştık.
The otherness in the literature is an issue that has been used consciously or unconsciously by many authors. When a person creates his identity, he needs “the other” because it is not posible to define himself without the other. The spanish writer Juan Gytisolo is one of the most prominent figures who have managed to analyze western and islamic worlds, which have been alienating each other throughout the history, in the best possible way, starting from his own experiences. In this work we aimed to examine the concept of the other in some works of Goytisolo. In this context, we have tried to address the prejudices and stereotypes in Western literature, while giving examples of Western identity, especially of the other identity of the Turks in Spanish literature.
