Bir milletin yaşam biçimi ve bu yaşamları içerisindeki tercihleri kültürü oluşturan en önemli unsurlardır. Dilden sonra bu unsurların başlıcaları ise onların beslenme, eğlence, sanatsal gelenekleri ile ahlâki temayülleri olarak sıralanabilir. Her ne kadar “DNA” kavramı Genetik bilimine ait bir terimse de yukarıda sayılan unsurlar da gözle görülemeyecek ancak bir bireyin gündelik hayatta diğer ırklardan kolayca ayırt edilmesini sağlayacak bir “DNA” kimliği ortaya koymaktadır. Söz konusu bu terimin sosyolojideki karşılığı ise “kültür”dür. Bu bakımdan bizi biz yapan niteliklerin eğitim- öğretim faaliyetleri içerisinde nesillere aktarılması büyük önem arz etmektedir. Sekiz yıllık bir eğitimin sonuna gelmiş olan öğrencilerin bu hususlarda tercihlerin irdelenmesi de eğitim sistemimizin bu işlevini ne oranda yerine getirdiğine dair bize ışık tutacaktır. Bu tespitten yola çıkarak çalışmamızda ortaokul öğrencilerinin müzik, yemek, sanat, eğlence kültürlerine yönelik kanaat oluşturması beklenen yirmi adet soru yöneltilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin ışığında günümüzde sıkça yakınılan bir konu olan kültür yozlaşmasının ülkemizde ne boyutta olduğu ve eğitim sistemimizin işlevselliğinin bu konuda yeterli olup olmadığının ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır.
The life style of a nation and their preferences in life are the most important elements which forming culture. The common ones of these elements after language can be listed as in the following: their traditions of nutrition, entertainment, art; and their moral trends. Though DNA is a term in Genetics, the elements mentioned above display an invisible DNA identity that enable us to differentiate a person from other races in daily life. Equivalent of this term in sociology is "culture". Therefore, it is crucial to transfer our main qualities to generations during education and teaching activities. To analyse the preferences of the students, who are at the end of the 8-year education, about these issues will also throw a light for us on observing how our educational system will function. By starting upon this determination; twenty questions, which had been supposed to form a conclusion about middle school students' culture of music, eating, art and entertainment, were asked in our study. In the light of collected data, it is targeted to reveal the degree of the cultural assimilation in our country - which is a frequently complained issue nowadays- and to show whether the functionality of our educational system is enough or not on this subject.
