Conception of God in The Early Nusayri Litarature

In this article, the Nusayri tradition, which emerged in the III/IX. century in Iraq’s geography and continued its existence without losing its esoteric character until modern times, examined the first period the concept of God which had a central prescription in understanding the system of belief. The movement gives great importance on secrecy like other esoteric sect. In addition to its esoteric character, due to pressures on the sect, leading scholars hide the liturgical literature, causing a lack of important information, especially about Nusayri's belief structure. However, from the XIX. century, some missionaries and scientists have obtained works written by Nusayri authors, thus scientific studies have begun on the sect. Moreover, as a result of the academic studies on the Nusayriyya in recent periods and the works published by Nusayri authors, the sect can be enlightened. It is very difficult to reveal all aspects of any religious group’s faith in God. Because the notion of god is not completely clear in religious literature or in the minds of the religious community in all its aspects. This is even more difficult for religious groups who have accepted the fundamental religious doctrine as the basis for secrecy, such as Nusayrism. In spite of all these difficulties, we believe that a basic idea of Nusayriyya’s god notion can be reached through a holistic approach to the early period Nusayri works which can be reached today.
