Hadiths are the second main source of Islam. Methodologists examines the Quran and hadith texts within the frame of nass term. There is no controversy among Muslim scholars over depending sunnah and hadiths as well as accepting them as evidence and model. Controversy is over how sunnah and hadith should be understood and interpreted. At this point, the approaches of the methodologists, especially the Hanafi methodologists to the subject draw attention. One of these methodologists whose approaches to the subjects such as sunnah, habar, mutawatir, mashhur, ahad occasionally differ from the hadith scholars is Hanafi methodologist Habbazi. Born in Hucend in 629 (1232), the Hanafi scholar and methodologists Abu Muhammad Calaladdin Omar bin Muhammad al-Hucandi al-Habbazi who went to Khwarazm and Bagdad and dealt with knowledge, then returned to Damascus and began to give lectures in al-Hatuniyyah al-Barrâniyyah Madrasah. In order to be able to teach at this madrasah, it was necessary to be regarded as the supreme Hanafi scholar of the period. It is mentioned that he was a scholar in this skill, a faqih who knows both the methodology and the furu by heart as well as was a person of worship and ascetism at the same time. He wrotehis works titled Sharh al-Hidaya whom he annotated al-Hidaya, one of the important sources of the Hanafi fiqh and titled al-Hadi fi Usul al-Din whom he wrote on theology. A number of annotative studies have been conducted on his prominent work al-Mugni fi Usul al-Fiqh. In our paper, we will examine Habbazi's approach to some issues of the Methodology of Hadith in the framework of his work named al-Mugni fi Usul al-Fiqh. We will determine and evaluate his approach to the subjects of the Methodology of Hadith as a Hanafi scholar and faqih.
