Araştırma konusu, Aksaray sınırları içerisinde yer alan ve zengin tarihi yapısı ile dikkat çeken Güzelyurt’ta, mimari yapılarda sıklıkla görülen kadın figürü odaklıdır. Mimari yapılar; bir toplumun inanış, siyasal, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel gelişimleri hakkında bizlere değerli bilgiler sunmaktadır. Tarih boyunca birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış olan Güzelyurt’taki mimari yapılarda görülen taş süslemelerin, bu yapılarda var oluş sebepleri ve taşıdıkları anlamlar incelemeye değer bulunmuştur. Yörede “Gelveri gelini” olarak bilinen ve bazı evlerin giriş kapısı ve pencere üstlerinde gördüğümüz kadın figürünün, Kartaca’nın Tanrıçası “Tanit” ile olan benzerliği dikkat çekicidir. İlk bakışta sıradan bir süsleme gibi duran, insanoğlunun sadece yaşam alanını süsleme ihtiyacından doğmuş olacağı düşüncesini barındıran bu figürün, Güzelyurt’ta geliş hikayesi, anlamı ve bir yaşantısı vardır. Bu araştırma; farklı kültürlerin birbirleriyle olan etkileşimini, inanışlarını, bıraktıkları izleri anlamlandırmak, açıklamak, yorumlamak ve gelecek kuşakları bilgilendirmek açısından önem arz etmektedir.
The research theme is focused on the female figure which is frequently seen in architectural structures in Güzelyurt, which is located within the borders of Aksaray and attracts attention with its rich historical structure. Architectural constructions; It provides valuable information about the belief, political, economic and socio-cultural development of a society. The stone ornaments seen in architectural structures in Güzelyurt, which has been host to many civilizations throughout history, have been found worthy of examining the meanings and causes of existence in these structures. The resemblance of the female figurine, known as "Gelveri gelini" in the region and seen on the entrance gates and window tops of some houses, is similar to that of Carthaginian Goddess Tanit. At first glance this figurine, which seems to be an ordinary ornamentation, which has the idea that human beings will only be born due to the need to decorate their living space, has a story of arrival, meaning and a life in Güzelyurt. This research; It is important in terms of understanding, explaining, interpreting and informing future generations about the interactions of different cultures with one another, beliefs, traces they leave behind.
