Analysing Sota Rustaveli’s Work Called “A Knight in Tiger Skin” within the Frame of Work of Rene Girard Called “ Triangle Desire Model”

Şota Rustaveli, who was predicted to live in the most magnificent era of Georgia between at the end of 12th century and in the beginning of 13th century, with the work he wrote “A Knight in Tiger Skin” he pioneered following poet gaining an important place in Georgian Literature. This work maintains its aliveness for centuries as sample of individual and national value of all Georgian population. In A Knight in Tiger Skin, with the emotions including unity, integrity, friendship, loyalty, self-sacrifice and patriotism, love constitutes main theme of this work. Consequently, work in which love and passion intensively appear as a fact within universal meaning, is suitable for analyzing with the method “Triangle Desire Method” of Rene Girard. In Rene Girard’s work called “Romantic Lie and Novel Like Truth” he discusses almost every literary work on imitate desire orientation with a reflected revealed axle. In other words, in a literary work if the subject is in a free style and desire comes into being by itself, it is romantic work, if a mediator word is the topic it shows characteristic of novel like work. If there is a mediator word between subject and the desired object, namely direct relationship without a vehicle, it is romantic lie; between subject and desired object if there is a desired or imitated mediator word, it is novel like truth. In this context, it will be discussed that the work called “A Knight in Tiger Skin” is either Romantic Lie or Novel Like Truth providing basis of every fictional structure of Rene Girard. Desire triangles in saga will be analyzed through incident links considering romantic designing fiction. Desire of seeing Tariyel of Arabian King Erestevan, love with protagonist Tariyel and Nestan, love of Avtandil and Tantana, and reaching of Avtandil to Tariyel will be analyzed within the frame of subject-object-mediator relationship benefiting triangle desire model work of Rene Girard. Thus, an answer will be looked for the question it is whether Romantic Lie or Novel Like Truth with complicated structure of work.
