Osmanlı dönemi Türk edebiyatında dönemleri ele alınan padişahların adını taşıyan eserler ayrı bir grup oluşturmaktadır. İlk defa Yavuz Sultan Selim döneminde ortaya çıkan bu ad verme geleneği onun adıyla anılan tarihler ortaya koymuş, bu eserler “Selimnâme” olarak adlandırılmıştır. Ancak Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ve II. Selim’den sonra birkaç istisna dışında bu gelenek devam ettirilmemiştir. Büyük bir kısmı oğlu Kanuni Sultan Süleyman döneminde yazılan Selimnâmeler kısa süren saltanatı döneminde büyük başarılar elde eden Yavuz Sultan Selim’in hayatına ve bu devir olaylarının tespitine ışık tutmaktadır. Ne var ki Osmanlı tarihinin tartışmalı konularından biri olan Yavuz Selim’in tahta geçişi meselesi hâlâ sonuca bağlanamamış konular arasında yer almaktadır. Kısa süren saltanatı döneminde önemli işler başaran Yavuz Selim’in (1512-1520) babasıyla Çorlu yakınlarında karşı karşıya getirilmesi, kardeşleriyle giriştiği taht mücadelesinin babasına karşı başkaldırı olarak algılanması ve suçlu görülmesi tarihî bir talihsizlik, bir haksızlık mı yoksa hakikatin değişmez yüzü müdür tartışmaları şüphesiz daha çok devam edecektir. İşte tam da bu noktada Yavuz Selim’in hayatını mihver alarak yazılan gayet mevsuk tarihî ve edebî eserler olan Selimnâmeler devrin olaylarına ışık tutmaktadırlar. Çalışmamızda Osmanlı tarihinin bazı kere eksik bıraktığı noktaları tamamlayan belgeler niteliğinde olan Selimnâmelerin Yavuz Sultan Selim’in taht mücadelesindeki bakış açıları ele alınacaktır.

The works bearing the names of the sultans in the period of Ottoman Turkish literature constitute a separate group. This tradition of naming which emerged in the period of Yavuz Sultan Selim for the first time revealed the dates mentioned in his name, these works are called "Selimnâme". However, after Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Selim II, this tradition has not been continued except for a few exceptions.Selimnâmes, written mostly during the reign of his son Süleyman the Magnificent,shed light on the life of Yavuz Sultan Selim, who achieved great success in the short period of his reign, and the determination of the events of this period. However, the issue of Yavuz Selim's accede, which is one of the controversial subjects of Ottoman history, is still one of the subjects that cannot be finalized.The fact that YavuzSelim (1512-1520), who achieved important works during the period of short sultanate, the discussion about confronted his father with his close relatives, perceived as a rebellion against his father's throne struggle with his brothers, and considered as guilty, was whether a historical misfortune or an injustice, no doubt the debate will continue. This is precisely at this point sheds light on the events of Selimnâmes period which is a very well-kept historical and literary works written by taking the life of YavuzSelim's life in to center. In our work, the aspects of the Selimnâmes on Yavuz Sultan Selim's throne struggle, which are documents that sometimes complement the points left by the Ottoman history, will be discussed.
