Araştırmanın amacı öğretmenlerin Türkiye’deki üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimi için yapılan çalışmalar hakkında neler bildiklerini ve üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimine yönelik önerilerinin neler olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda araştırmanın problem cümlesini şöyle ifade edebiliriz: “Türkiye’de üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimine yönelik olarak öğretmenlerin düşünceleri ve önerileri nelerdir?”. Bu çalışma Türkiye’deki farklı branşlardan ortaokul ve lise öğretmenlerinin üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimi için yapılan çalışmalar hakkında ne kadar bilgi sahibi olduklarının ve üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimi için yapılması gereken şeyler hakkındaki önerilerini ortaya koyması bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Bu şekilde Türkiye’deki üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimi için yapılan şeyler hakkında öğretmenlerin ne kadar bilgi sahibi olduklarını gözlemleme şansına sahip olacağız. Üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitim çevrelerini düzenlemek, eğitimsel ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak ve Türkiye’deki üstün zekalı öğrencilerin mevcut sorunlarını ortadan kaldırmak için öğretmenlerin görüşlerini almak önemlidir. Nitel veri analizi yaklaşımlarından içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu ortaokul ve liselerde çalışmakta olan 300 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan bir görüş formu kullanılmıştır. “Ülkemizde üstün zekalı çocukların eğitimine yönelik neler yapılmaktadır?” ve “Ülkemizde üstün zekalı çocukların eğitimine yönelik neler yapılmasını önerirdiniz?” açık uçlu sorularına verilen cevaplar analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçta da öğretmenlerin üstün zekalı öğrencilerin eğitimine yönelik yapılan çalışmalar hakkındaki düşünceleri 14 kategori ve önerileri 9 kategori altında toplanmıştır. Sonuçlar yüzde ve frekans değerleri verilerek tablolaştırılmıştır.

The aim of the research is to present the ideas of teachers about what they know about the studies made for the education of gifted students in Turkey and what are the suggestions thereon. In this context, the problem sentence of the study is as follows: What are the ideas and suggestions of teachers about the gifted students in Turkey. The study is of importance to reveal the ideas of middle and high school teachers from different fields about the studies made for the education of gifted students and their suggestions about the things to be made for the education of gifted students in Turkey. In this way we have a chance of observing that how much the teachers know about the things made for the education of gifted students in Turkey. It is important to get the ideas of teachers for designing educational environments for gifted students, for providing the needs of gifted students and for removing the present problems of gifted students in Turkey. The content analysis was used from qualitative data analysis approaches. The study group of the research is consisted of 300 teachers working at middle schools and high schools. In the scope of the study, as a data gathering tool, a view form prepared by the researchers was used. The answers of two open–ended questions “What kind of things have been made for the education of gifted students in Turkey?” and “What kind of things do you suggest to be made for the education of gifted students in Turkey?” were analyzed. At last, the ideas of the teachers about the education of gifted students were gathered under 14 categorizes and the suggestions of teachers under 9 categorizes. The results were given in tables via frequency and percentage values.
