He has published 26 story book and 8 essays. He who was being a teacher of literature, a manager of a magazine, a journalist and a broadcaster continues to write obeying his traditional rule which is a new story book for each year. Kutlu gave the concept of long story with book called “Uzun Hikaye” written in 2000 and it is one of the best example of the concept. After that year he has continued to write story in this concept. When we look the fundemantal issues which are underlying the long stories’ subjects of Kutlu, readers see that there is a demand to sense the exact meaning of the life, an effort to cling to life and being in life, an encountering a dilemma between traditional & modern life and an alienation of essence. Mustafa Kutlu turns these problems that occupied the minds of the people that from his country and alienation issues into a literary texts and so offers an opportunity to think with pleasure to the reader. For this aim, He uses heroes of the stories unsurprisingly. In Kutlu’s strories, there are quite a variety of heroes like doctor, stallholder, violinist or academian. A carefull reader who read all the stroies will notice that the male figures of Kutlu’s stories are alone or beocome isolated. There are lots of common points of lonely male figures that clearly described in the books, specifically in the 8 story, of succesful story writer who have completed 45 years in authorship. These common points are not a repeat or coincidence but also a conscious choice and they stem from the message Kutlu wanted to give the reader.
