Bu araştırmada, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’ndeki lise öğrencilerinin biyoloji dersine yönelik tutumu incelenmiştir. Araştırmaya Lefkoşa ilçesinde Anadolu, Fen ve genel liselerde öğrenim gören gönüllü 180 dokuzuncu, onuncu, on birinci ve on ikinci sınıf öğrencisi katılmıştır. Öğrencilerden veriler Arıcak ve Ilgaz (2007) tarafından geliştirilen Biyoloji Tutum ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Tek boyutlu olan ölçek, 17 madde içermekte olup, 4’lü Likert tipinde derecelendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin güvenirlik değeri için Cronbach alfa değerine bakılmış ve bu değer 0,85 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçek maddelerinin ayırt ediciliği için madde-toplam korelasyonuna bakılmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre öğrencilerin biyoloji dersine yönelik olumlu tutuma sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilere göre biyoloji dersi; ilgi ile dinlenen, hoşa giden, çevrelerindeki olayları anlamalarına olanak sağlayan, severek çalışılan, eğlenceli, daima sevilen, öğrenilmese de sevilen bir derstir. Aynı zamanda bu öğrenciler biyoloji dersinin sıkıcı olduğunu, hiç bir işe yaramadığı, içinden geçen “biyoloji dersinden ne zaman kurtulacağım”, “biyoloji dersinde uyurum” görüşlerini desteklemektedir. Buna karşın öğrenciler biyoloji; dinlendiğinde zevk alınmayan, sadece sınav için çalışılan, ezberlenecek ve unutulacak bir derstir görüşlerini desteklememektedir. Kız ve erkek öğrencilerin biyoloji dersine yönelik tutum ortalamalarının birbirine yakın olduğu ve ortalamalar arasında anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı görülmüştür. Benzer şekilde öğrencilerin okudukları lise türü ve sınıf seviyesine göre biyoloji dersine yönelik tutum ortalamaları incelenmiş ve bu ortalamalar arasındaki farkın anlamlı olmadığı ortaya çıkmıştır.

This study examined high school students’ attitudes towards biology lesson in North Cyprus. The participant of this study were 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade high school students from three diferent kinds of school grouped under state, science department, Anatolian High School in Nicosia. The data collected through Biology Attitude questionnare which was developed by Arıcak and Ilgaz in 2007. To confirm the results obtained from the one-dimensional scale which contains 17 items and four - point Likert type scale was used to measure student’s answers. The scale was administered 180 volunteer high school students. Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was calculated as 0,85. Also, item discrimination and item-total correlation were examined. The results demonstrate that students have positive attitude towards Biology courses. Students have been accepted to some views like “I'm interested in biology class”, “Biology course is a fun course”. Also students have been accepted to some views like “Biology is a courses to be memorized”. However students have not been accepted some views like “Biology courses is boring”. The findings are consistent with the view that female and male students' attitudes shows that their average mean is close and there is no significant different towards Biology course. Similar results also caried out that there is no significance difference according to students type of high school and grade levels.
