Fire Of Forbidden Love In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter And In Mehmet Rauf’s Eylül (September) From America To Turkey


This article aims to show how a forbidden love finds itself in both America where strict Puritan rules dominate and in Turkey where there are also harsh rules about marriage and faith. The protagonists of forbidden loves are women in these novels. So it has been tried to shed light into their psychological situations, emotions and the society in which they lived. This article has conducted the issue from three notable points: The first point has been explanatory of forbidden love, the second point has established a desciption of men in order to understand forbidden love better. The last one has focused on how and why forbidden love affects the characters in The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne and Eylül by Mehmet Rauf. This study aims a journey to your minds from America to Turkey through two characters being their own destiny’s prisoners in their love stories in forbidden love stories.
