Darband (Bâb al-abwâb), Tbilisi, Barda’a ve Dabil (Duwin, Dvin) that mentioned by 1o. Century muslim geographer as the most important center of the Arran and Armenia region. At the present, the area constitutes a part of Georgia and Armenia that in the South Caucasus. In addition to the important centers there are also some historical geographic infomations about the other small sites of Arran and Armenia in works of some geographers such as Ibn al-Fakîh (ö. III.-IV./IX.-X. yy.), Ibn Khordâdhbeh (ö. 300/912-913), Istakhrî (ö. after 340/951-952), Mas’ûdî (ö. 345/956), Ibn Haukal (ö. IV./X. yy.) and Mokaddasi (ö. 390/1000). In the mentioned century, current geography of Georgia had an important spot especially with textiles, weaving and silk besides agricultural products together with Armenia where is not limited with the South of the Caucasus Mountains but also include Kâlîkalâ (Arzurum), Mayyāfārqīn (Silvan) and Ahlat and Erciş that located around the Lake Van in Anatolia. The area that watered by Kura and Aras rivers and Muslims’ political relations are exist till the first İslam conquests. In addition, the aspect of Turkish history, activities of Turkish in this area beside the relations between Armenians and Muslim Arabs make this area more important. In this study, some centers that located in South Caucasus, included in Armenia and Georgia boundaries were discussed about social, cultural and commercial structure examine with trade routes based on 10th century Islamic geopraphers.
