In Anatolia, religious texts developed around spiritual or sacred characters are affluence for our folklore. These texts that have been read for centuries refresh religious senses and enthusiasm of people and they have been nationalized with traditional motifs. After conversion to Islam, our folktales including religious characters took the place of epics belonging to pre-Islamic period. After this interaction leading to reveal the religious versions of some of the epics, social and literary interest of the people on epics are represented by this kind of folktales. Hazrat Ali has an enormous impact on our literature, culture and faith. Due to their warrior and heroic sides shaped through history, the Turks have great sympathy for Hazrat Ali and respect for the family of the Prophet Muhammad. Hz. Ali has an important place in Islamıc history because of his being of a relative of Hz. Peygamber, taking a primary role in spreading of Islam and his being of the fourth khalif. The religious heroic stories which is formed around Hz. Ali, regardless of their form structure, sources, formation periods, beginning from the periods Turks embrace Islam, are the works that was influential in forming the people types and in changing their world view. With reference to these particularities, In Turk-Islam thought system and in its literary texts, a world of thought is shaped which is related to Hz.Ali. This thougt put Hz. Ali into the centre of its hearth and the world of idea. Turk-Islam thought which is shaped around him is reflected to our written and oral literature prominently throughout the history. Menakıb-name, poems, mawlid, and battlesare writtenwhich are about spiritual charactersitic of Hz. Ali whom his life turned into a legendary character. These types of works has an important place in Turk-Islam literature, the works about his life has become widely known and pass from hand to hand. One of the most important character was Hz. Ali became famous with bravery and courage. There is a literary type named “cenkname” within narrating Hz. Ali’s fictional and sometimes historical battles and jihads.
