The Position Of Zazaki And Its Future According To The Language Reports Published By UNESCO
Zazaki is the third mostly spoken language in Turkey considering the population of the different ethnicities. Zazaki, which belongs to the Northwestern Iranian languages of the Indo-European language family, is known relatively as the native language of 4 million people. Mosty spoken in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, Zazaki is heavily spoken in the city centres and towns of Elazığ, Diyarbakır, Sivas, Erzincan, Bitlis, Muş, Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa, and in Bingöl and Dersim foremost. Zazaki, which has a strong oral tradition and recollection introduced literature first in the last quarter of the 19th century. The first fifty years of the Republic Period of Turkey were quietness times for Zazaki and no literature was produced. The literature gained acceleration after the 2000s and 30-40 works are produced annually. Zazaki is one of the endangered languages according to the UNESCO reports published in recent years.
